micro cogeneration through biomass gasification
which will take place in Bozen-Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy)
on December, 2nd-3rd 2016.
During the two days’ conference, high profile invited speakers will provide a tremendous insight on the most relevant advancements on small-scale cogeneration based on biomass gasification.
Particular attention will be given on the first day to the issues related to by-products management. Potential applications of char, the solid carbonaceous residue of biomass gasification, will be presented and discussed. Different pathways for its valorization will be considered, in the view of transforming this by-product – today mostly treated as a waste – in a valuable product of the biomass conversion chain.
In the morning of the second day, a guided tour to a small-scale biomass-based CHP plant will take place. During the visit, the methodologies for the monitoring and assessing of this type of plants will be presented.
The host region, South-Tyrol, has a long tradition in the use of wood for energy purposes and in the last years many new entrepreneurial initiatives led to the installation of new gasification plants. The purpose of this symposium is to gather researchers and professionals to share the most updated knowledge on these topics, promoting national and international research networks.
